Under Danida-funded Business Sector Programme Support (BSPS), the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), in cooperation with the University of Copenhagen, the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), and the Institute for Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA), carried out the household survey 2008 in 12 provinces of Vietnam. The first round of the VARHS was conducted in 2002 and the second in 2006, which allows investigation of changes over time as to why households have restricted access to resources, and how these restrictions affect the household economy and the welfare and lives of rural dwellers.
